Surgery
Typical areas where liposuction gives good results include inner arms, back, sides and front of the tummy, thighs and around the buttocks. The procedure is done under local or general anesthesia through small hidden incisions. Fat is sucked out through small metal tubes called cannulas leaving elastic skin behind which shrinks to give a beautiful shape to the body. Sometimes liposuction can be combined with other procedures like tummy tuck or breast augmentation.
Post Operative
The procedure is usually done as daycare or may involve one day stay in the hospital. You can start walking the same day though most will take it slow for a week.
Recovery
Recovery is quick and patients are back to work in 5-10 days. You will be asked to wear a tight garment to reduce the swelling post surgery and help skin shrinkage over a few months

Most patients can get back to routine desk work within 7-10 days.
We recommend resuming slow walking the same or the next day of surgery. Brisk walking can be started after a week and high impact exercises after 3-4 weeks.

Liposuction removes fat and lets the skin redrape over the new contour. The better the skin quality, the better the result. If you have significant sagging skin already, then liposuction can make it sag more and skin excision like in a tummy tuck may be ideal for you. This will be decided in your first consultation after I examine you.
Cellulite is the dimpling of the skin. Liposuction will not erase that completely. If severe, you may need skin excision to treat cellulite, like a tummy tuck or thigh lift.
