One of the earliest signs of ageing are changes around the eyes. These start with fine lines and wrinkles which progress to dark circles, under eye bags, hollowness and excess loose upper and lower eyelid skin. Eyes which shows these changes make a person look tired, old and often unhappy.
Rejuvenation of the area around the eyes involves addressing problems of the skin texture, fat pads around eye and loose eyelid skin. A Blepharoplasty involves removing the excess skin and readjusting the fat around the eyes. Some times, Fat Grafting may be combined with Blepharoplasty to add volume around the eyes.

Pre Operative
Detailed history, review of your medications and preoperative photos help us assess the defect accurately. REJUVENATION around the eyes may involve non surgical and surgical options and these need to be discussed in detail to formulate the correct treatment plan.
Procedure
Eyebag removal surgery is done under local or general anesthesia. Skin excess is marked and removed using very fine plastic surgical techniques. The volume loss (hollowness) around the eyes is corrected by readjusting the fat pads or adding fat by Fat Grafting. In severe cases, lower eyelid tightening procedures like Canthoplasty or Canthopexy may be required.
Post Operative
Blepharoplasty is done as a daycare procedure and does not need an overnight stay in the hospital. Patients go home the same evening with painkillers and antibiotics.
Recovery
Most patients will be back to work with in 4-5 days. There is swelling around the eyes goes away in 7-10 days.

Radiofrequency, Fillers and Ultrasound are some ways to tighten loose skin around the eyes. However if you have loose and droopy fat around the eyes, you will need surgery.
It is natural to have swollen eyelids after surgery. Pain is easily controlled by medicines for 1-2 days. Some itching, eye irritation is common too. Most symptoms resolve in 1-2 weeks and the beautiful result can be seen. Final result is seen after 6-8 weeks once the scar starts to fade.
It is a daycare procedure which can be done under local anesthesia too. Both upper and lower lids can be treated at the same time, also known as a ‘4 Quadrant Blepharoplasty’.
